Around the Dorms, Saturday Morning

When you were the lead singer of a soon-to-be epically famous band, you kind of got used to waking up and not immediately recognizing where you were. Usually though, it didn't take Nikolai this long to get his bearings. He didn't even remember coming into this place last night, let alone staying, and he didn't have the hangover that usually went with getting seriously wasted. While he was here though, he figured he might as well take a look around. Maybe he'd get lucky and end up in someone else's room for a while.

"Um," Topher said, wringing his hands a little. "Do you have a sec?"

See, this was the problem with drunken stupors. Clearly, Nikolai had talked to this guy last night, and now he couldn't even remember his name. He couldn't say that though, obviously, so he smiled instead and hoped he'd remember things soon enough. "Yeah, sure, I've got plenty of time. What's up?"

"Um." That smile was a little unnerving, but Topher was really trying not to psych himself out here, so he kept going anyway. "I, uh. Talked to Ben? And he said I should, um. Talk to you. So. I was wondering if maybe you wanted to. Like. Go on a... thing. Sometime. Like, to a place. For food. Or bowling! Ben said bowling. Right. Or, um. Yeah. If you want?"

So much wringing of his hands. So much.

...Oh man, what the fuck had he done last night? "Are you...asking me out on a date?" No, really, how drunk had he gotten?

Topher bit his lip. "Yes?" Please say yes please say yes please say yes...

Nikolai couldn't stop the laughter that bubbled up, but he didn't try to hide it either. "Seriously? I mean--that's flattering, really, but I'm...not into you like that. At all." That was kind of vaguely gentle, right? Minus the laughing which just kept coming.

"Oh."

Topher... felt like he'd just been punched in the stomach. And he was going to kill Ben for telling him Billy liked him like that, because clearly he didn't and now they probably couldn't be friends anymore and that was it and oh god he wanted to crawl under his blankets and hide for, like, ever.

He ducked his head, staring down at his feet. "Sorry, I... I mean, Ben... I mean. Sorry."

"Hey, it's no big deal," Nikolai said with a shrug, trying to be cool about the whole thing. If the guy started crying, he was totally going to bail. "No hard feelings, right?"

"Sorry," Topher mumbled again. "Um." He waved vaguely in the direction of his room. "I'm just gonna."

"Yeah, I've gotta...find some people," Nikolai said vaguely, waving his hand and fleeing before things got even more uncomfortable. If he was a better person, he might have actually felt kind of bad for the poor guy.
